Quick Clean Up - The Purse Edition..

Ok,  so I decided to take on a 'Quick Clean Up Challenge' and after I started, I quickly realized it was long over due.

Quick clean up of... My handbag!

(above handbag - Tignanello)

Now I am not one to carry the entire world in my handbag.. but after starting to clean it, I realized why it was so heavy!    The culprit - loose change, and lots of it.

After I had emptied my bag, I decided I might as well change handbags while I was at it.. why not right? :0)
And it just so happen that I had recently purchased a new bag which I had not used as of yet.

I actually tend to change handbags every few weeks..  therefore they stay 'well maintained'. (neat & organized)
However, due to having 2 graduations, and 2 birthdays within the last four weeks..  it had been a little longer than that, and it showed.  :0)

While I do like to change my bags often, I do not buy a new bag that often, in fact I only purchased one handbag in the past 1 1/2 years. (The pink one I am about to show you)  :0)

( I tend to choose brand name handbags and keep them for years, and I just switch them out often..   but I generally choose a less expensive and plain wallet that coordinates, instead of the exact match.. it saves money, and I can use it with another bag.  However, I really just choose a bag because I like it - doesn't have to be any particular brand, etc..)

So after going through everything in my bag...
Here was my results:

I had a pile of loose change to move into the change jar.. Yay!
A few ink pens to put elsewhere...
Old store punch point card things, that I decided I just don't need to hang on to and carry around...
and receipts and deposit slips to put away.

After that I simply switched wallets, got a cute little makeup bag that I made recently so I could organize my iphone cord, as well as some of the loose items that tend to get lost in the bottom of the bag, such as: extra lip gloss, small brush, mirror, hairbands, etc..  then placed it all inside my bag.

So much better..
My bag is freshly organized now which is really nice, and also quite a bit lighter... amazing what removing the excessive amount of loose change, and downsizing a few things can do..
and switching from leather to fabric helped a little too. :0)

I still have plenty of room for a bottle of water, my ipad, and my small camera whenever I want to toss those in as well.

So have you tackled any 'Quick Clean Up's' lately?

  1. I love your new bag and wallet! The color is great. Isn't it amazing how quickly they can become a mess with receipts, etc! I too use a small zippered cosmetic bag to house items like lip gloss, ibuprofen, lotion, hair ties, and other items. It helps keep the mess down! Have a great week.....:)

  2. I too usually buy good bags and cheap wallets to change out.

I try to keep mine pretty clean. Switching it out often helps.

    1. I agree.. I think switching bags often definitely helps in keeping
the 'clutter' under control and keeping organized.

      Thanks for stopping by.
