Scrap wood pumpkin diy project

This is a simple project that has a unique result.. because you can personalize them
so many ways!

You have probably seen something similar with wood being decorated with paper for
different seasons, as well as several in a display with letters to spell out different phrases or names..

I have made them for quite some time and thought I would share how to make a pumpkin today.

You will need a piece of scrap 2x4, whatever size you want.
(I used a 5" size and a 3" size for the ones shown here.)

You will also need decorative fall paper, modge podge, scissors, a dowel rod, hot glue gun, decorative ribbon or silk leaves if desired.

First I painted my wood blocks black. (shown above)

Then cut the paper to fit one side, and modge podge it on.

Then paint the modge podge on top of the paper as well. (it dries clear)

When dry, drill a small hole on top for the dowel rod.
Insert the dowel rod, (add a little glue) cut down to desired size with scissors or wire cutters etc..

Then using my hot glue gun, I added some decorative silk fall leaves and ribbon.

Make several in different sizes and create a fun and unique display for fall.

As you can see I simply placed 2 on a piece of wide burlap ribbon in my window sill.   They have such a small footprint they can be placed in many area's of your home and you can personalize them as little or as much as you would like.
I think they would be adorable adding letters or names and using them as place settings on the Thanksgiving table!

How would you personalize them? Add a face? Distress them?
Would love to hear your idea's.
