what I could do to change up one of the tins as well as the lid.
Wait to you see how I transformed these to a farmhouse style design
that goes perfectly with our decor. They both turned out so cute!
I started by trying to spray paint the tin, but it was windy and started to rain so I moved indoors
and used a paintbrush.
After the paint had dried, I used a piece of buffalo check scrapbook paper to
cutout a simple a tree design and then I used a light coat of mod podge to
put it in place on the tin.
Next I chose to dress up the tree just a little bit and add a simple red bow to the top with hot glue.
Then I took it into the living room and let me show you what I decided to use this for..
Isn't it pretty!?!
I tucked in a couple of empty spools from ribbon to set a miniature lighted tree on.
The tree lights are on a timer so it tucks perfectly inside the tin, then I used a buffalo
check scarf that I had picked up at dollar tree to wrap around the tree.
I added a buffalo check ribbon to the top of the tree and left the tails fairly long.
I tied a simple bow and then just let the tail ends cascade in a curly pattern down the sides.
I wanted a simple farmhouse style tree that I can tuck in about anywhere and I love how
it turned out!
Here is another idea using the same popcorn tin idea, I just simply added a
Farmhouse Christmas Decal to the tin that I made using my silhouette.
(decal will be available in my Etsy shop)
For the lid, I chose to turn it into a wall hanging.. 💚
I added some cutout paper tree's, a buffalo check bow, and one of the mini truck ornaments
that you have seen me use several times by now.. lol
Love that little red truck.
I have several idea's for these popcorn tins so I think that gives me another reason
to go stock up on some popcorn. 😉
I made a video as I went along so if you'd like to see in better detail how I
made these fun pieces (with some fun Christmas theme music) check it out below.
