DIY Farmhouse Style Pantry Sign for the Kitchen

Since taking down our Christmas
decorations I am missing having something on my pantry door so I am going to fix that and
today I am sharing what I came up with.

I am using a dollar tree Valentines Day sign to update and turn it into
A fun Farmhouse Style Sign for my pantry door.

The sign was a little bigger than what I wanted so I took it outside (braving the cold weather) 😉
and I used my jigsaw to cut it down to half the original size.

I also used some sandpaper to smooth out the edges as well as the image and the glitter that was on the front of the sign.

I took it inside, removed the jute string that was used for a hanger,  and gave it a couple of coats of white paint.

I wanted my sign to have a farmhouse rustic style so I chose to use some black acrylic paint
to achieve the look that I was going for.

I lightly painted over the surface, and added a line in the center to give it the look of faux wood or shiplap.
I went a little heavier with the paint around the edges and here is the finished look.

I put the jute hanger back in place and then chose to add the word Pantry to my sign.

I could've painted it on or used a stencil but I chose to use adhesive vinyl.
So using my computer and my silhouette I made a vinyl decal to add to my sign.

To finish my sign I chose to add a simple burlap bow and I just hot glued it in place.

(Can I just say I am loving my hot glue gun that I got for Christmas!)💚

I love how this sign turned out!

It is something I can use year round and I had everything on hand to make it besides the sign.
(which was a little over a dollar with tax)

I hope you enjoyed this project, I actually made a video that goes along with this project
that also includes a couple additional and simple projects if you'd like to check out the video I will
link it below.
