Utensil Art for the kitchen

I decided to make some new artwork for my brand new pantry..
(See the details of my Pantry Here)

So I gathered a few supplies..

  • a previously used corkboard
  • decorative papers
  • modge podge
  • paintbrush
  • spray paint
  • and silverware

I started by cutting my decorative papers.. and using my paintbrush and modge podge
put a light coat on the cork board and attached the papers.

I used a 12" x 12" sheet of printed scrapbook paper for the center portion,
and solid coordinating colors for the edges due to the fact that the 12" paper
wasn't big enough to cover the length of the cork board.  Plus I really wanted
a pop of red with my turquoise.

Then I decided to distress it just a little with a ink pad.

After it was dry, I gave the top a coat of modge podge and let that dry.

While that was going on inside..
This was going on outside:

Using spray paint, I gave a set of silverware a coat of white (front and back), after that
dried.. a coat of red.

Why did I use white first? Well, my red shade is a little darker than I wanted so I
painted it white first to try to brighten up the red a bit.

Next step..
glue. (I used hot glue but e6000 would probably be better)

and waaaahlaaa..

Fun utensil artwork for the pantry. :0)
