DIY Light Posts with another purpose

I have done a lot of different projects in the yard this year,
and one of the projects on my list was planting a row of boxwood's along
the driveway that is near one side of our house.

I quickly realized that I still need to be able to drag a water hose past this area
for all of our plants and newly planted tree's on this side of the yard,
and since the boxwood are along the edge of the driveway
the hose would easily end up right against them.. so I needed to come up
with something to keep the hose off all of my new boxwood.

I had also added in a new pathway which I put a small
planting area with evergreens on either side of and I thought that was the perfect
spot to put in a light post.

They would look pretty, and anchor each side of the new path, and take care of
the hose issue. :0)

So I picked up some treated 4x4 posts, and cut them to size I wanted
and buried them in the ground.

I added a solar light on the top of each post,  and then also went ahead and searched for a fun planter
that I could hang on each post.  I found this set of 2 Planters (less than $15) and they fit perfectly.
So I filled them with potting soil and petunia's and hung them on each light post.

This has certainly helped keep the water hose off my plants,
and they are just pretty.. day and night.

Watering can be quite time consuming for us, so any thing that we can do to help make it go
a little faster has been great.

What kind of yard projects have you been up to this year?
