This is something I have been going back and forth on for quite a while..
and probably even more so after installing a fun faux barnwood backsplash in my
kitchen. (which we are so happy with!)
(You can see my backsplash post here:Faux Barnwood Backsplash)

After a lot of searching online, looking at before and after photo's of other peoples kitchens,
researching painting methods for kitchen cabinets what products others have used with success
and so on.. I finally made the decision that I really wanted to paint them white.
However because I had a slight hesitation I chose to just paint the one cabinet beside the stove
to see what I thought before tackling the entire kitchen.
I was 99% positive I was going to like it. However, just in case I didn't
I could change it much easier than if I did the entire kitchen and then didn't like it.
So that is what I did.
The painting process I chose to use:
I cleaned the cabinet thoroughly with this, then scrubbed it with deglosser, which I chose to do instead of sanding everything. Then I chose to use this stainblocker, and after the waiting period for the stainblocker to cure I finally got to paint!
I used a combo of my favorite paintbrush which is nice and soft, as well as a soft foam roller.
I also knew I wanted to use bead board at the ends of the cabinets so I cut it to size and added
it to the cabinet as well.
The result..

I was very pleased with how the cabinet turned out.. it adds brightness to the kitchen,
and I actually like it even more than I thought I would. Yay!
So the kitchen painting project is in process.. and adding new hardware will be a fun touch
as well!
Stay tuned for the completed result.
