Farmhouse Decor Round up

I have been searching pinterest, and various stores looking at farmhouse accent pieces
to add to my home, and I have found soooo many cute options.

I just recently purchased the nesting birdcages shown above, and they are such a fun
addition to my farmhouse/country decor.
(*see details on the birdcages at bottom of the post)

While searching for fun pieces, I thought I would go ahead and put together
a few of the items that I found while looking on Amazon to see what they had to offer.

I was really impressed with all the items that I found.

How cute is that distressed  FarmHouse Sign, and I am debating between that Milk Can
or this one that I found.
The Mason Jar soap dispenser is calling my name, wouldn't that look perfect setting by
the sink?   and galvanized metal accents like the windmill clock definitely would
add to our farmhouse look if I had a place to put it that is. :0)

I have been picking up a few new things here and there,
and we have finally started working on our kitchen back splash project since our weather
has been improving.      (Yay for sunshine and above freezing temps!)

I am so pleased with how the back splash is coming along,
and the new look it gives my kitchen.
Farmhouse Happy. Lol.

Did you see my photo on what I am using as a back splash?
(You can see a sneak peek here.)
(will be sharing more about it when we get finished)

Fri-Yay: a look at my week and kitchen decisions

This week went by rather quickly, or maybe it felt like it because I was just really busy..
or a little of both. :0)

We have had some crazy cold winter weather here so I have been indoors for
the most part when not working in my studio.
Which means I got to tackle a few things that needed done.

I decided to work on the linen closet in the master bathroom which led
me to going through my nail polish mess collection.

Yikes.. after getting it all out and seeing the crazy amount of nail polish that I have accumulated..
(above photo is just part of it)  I don't think I really need to buy any for a while.
(well, probably not this one at least since I had 3 bottles.) :0)

As much as I really like my bright polish, and I do.
I like the muted tones as well.
I really like this color called: Tan Lines.. it is such a pretty pink.
I couldn't find this exact one online, but this polish line can be found here.

How are you doing with your 2018 goals so far?
Well, we did get a exercise bike, so that is a start.

Moving on to something else,
I have been debating on several design/decor idea's around the house.

Painting my kitchen cabinets is one of them.
I really like the look of white cabinets,  and that is a project that
has been on my mind for a long time.
I am still debating it, but I am leaning more and more towards taking it on.

See my Kitchen Tour Here.

While I am making up my mind on that,
I have also been debating on a back splash.
I have been searching online and looking through tile designs,
and decorative tin tiles like this one,
However, I also kind of like the idea of a weathered barn board/distressed look.

So I painted a few leftover flooring sections with a distressed/worn technique
and placed them up to get a visual idea of how something like that would look.

We have been looking at it all week and I actually really like it.

Any thoughts on painting cabinets?
Have you ever painted oak cabinets and how did they turn out?

I have been researching a lot of tutorials and tips so if I decide to jump in, hopefully
I do it right the first time.

We are suppose to get above freezing today and even hit 60 this weekend.. oh boy
am I looking forward to that!

Guest Bath Update - Wainscoting

I recently decided to finally tackle a project that I had been wanting to do
for the longest time, but I just hadn't gotten to it..

Add wainscoting to our guest bathroom.

Here is the before:

2017 Fave's - A trip to Pioneer Woman Mercantile

Happy New Year to you!

I was thinking about some of my favorite things of 2017 as we head in to the new year,
and 2017 was busy. :0)

My daughters High School Graduation,
Senior Class Trip..
College decisions..
College Tour..
College Enrollment..
College Planning..
College Preparing.. Shopping.. Packing..
and then her moving for college.. :0(

and about a million other things 2017 had going on. :0)

However, during all of that, we did manage to take a week off for a vacation.

One of the stops on our vacay list was going to Pawhuska, OK to visit
the Pioneer Woman Mercantile.

The building is beautifully done.. it is really something to see if you enjoy that sort
of thing. :0)

Here are a few pictures that I snapped while we were there..

The pretty floors..  and the pretty displays of items.

I think my favorite was the large basset hound statue!
So stinking adorable.

All of the beautiful wood tones, and rustic and fun accents..

and of course those trucks!
So much fun.

Beautiful stairs.. photo's on the walls.. and something interesting to see all over.

In fact after we left I was looking through my photo's that I took
and I saw things I didn't  even notice while we were there.

Even the bags that they put your purchases in are adorable.

We enjoyed going there, and plan to go back again sometime.

After we left there, we decided to walk around town.
There was quite a bit of construction going on,
(as you can kind of see in the above photo),
but some cute shops here and there to check out.

(Wow, my hair was a lot longer then!) :0)

This piano was on the sidewalk while we were walking around town,
and it was all decked out with flowers, and I thought it was too pretty
not to take a picture of it.

Which looking at it now makes me even more ready for spring!

Bring on Spring, and Flowers, and Sunshine, and Warm Weather!
Looking forward to it, how about you?

We had a lot of great times in 2017, and I am looking forward to all the wonderful
days of 2018!

(did I mention that I am also looking forward to spring?  I am.. just wanted you to know) :0)
